IPTV Player for Android TV

Set up Opus Media Player on Android TV
Install Opus on the television
Open Google Play on the Android TV device and search for Opus Media Player, then install it.
Install Opus on your phone as well
Add the M3U URL or the Xtream Codes login there first. Typing it on a phone takes seconds; typing it on a D-pad takes minutes.
Open QR Sync on the television
Launch Opus on the Android TV and choose the sync option. A QR code is displayed.
Scan the code
In Opus on the phone, use the sync function and point the camera at the television. The playlist setup moves across the local network.
Wait for the categories
The television builds the channel, film and series lists from the playlist. A large playlist takes longer on a low-powered TV box than on a phone.
Play
Move through the guide with the arrow keys and select a channel.
Troubleshooting on Android TV
- QR Sync will not connect
- The phone and the television have to be on the same network. Guest networks and access-point isolation both block the transfer.
- The app is slow to open a large playlist
- Cheap Android TV boxes have little memory. A playlist with tens of thousands of entries will always be slow on such hardware; trimming the playlist at the provider end is the only real fix.
- Constant buffering on the television
- Use Ethernet if the device has a port. IPTV streams are sent at one bitrate and do not drop quality when Wi-Fi weakens, so they stall instead.
- The guide is empty
- EPG data comes from the playlist. If the source does not publish it, the grid stays empty on every device.
- Opus is not offered on the television's Play Store
- Some manufacturers ship a restricted store. If the app cannot be found there, the Fire TV instructions describe a manual install route that works on Android-based televisions generally.

Does this cover Google TV devices too?
Google TV is the interface on top of Android TV, so the same app and the same setup apply.
Do I need a phone?
Not strictly, but QR Sync exists because entering a long playlist URL with a D-pad is slow and error-prone.
Does Opus include channels for Android TV?
No. You bring your own playlist or subscription.
Will one playlist work on the TV and the phone at the same time?
Only if your provider allows more than one simultaneous connection. Most restrict it.
